We have a wide range of volunteering opportunites at the Sand Bothy.
In 2017 we worked with the Pony Axe S and Promoting a More Inclusive Society (PAMIS) to provide access to the beach for wheelchair users with a specially designed pony and carriage. Then in 2018 we worked with Promoting a more inclusive society (PAMIS) and Aberdeenshire Council to raise funds for all terrain wheel chairs so the beach is accessible to all. The project has been featured the Aberdeen Press and Journal and Evening Express.
The Balmedie Beach Wheelchairs are available free to hire by anyone with impaired mobility or any other disability that prevents them from enjoying the beach. Find out more on the Balmedie Beach Wheelchairs website.
We are working with Aberdeenshire Council on improved paths and signage in Balmedie Country Park.
We are always looking for help running the kiosk.
Handy with a paint brush or hammer? We are looking for volunteers to help with ongoing repairs and improvements to the building.
Interested in the Trust that set up the Sand Bothy? Come along to our monthly meetings to find out more. We are always looking for organisers and help with administering the Trust's work. We meet on the fourth Monday of the month.
